The Milady education program is one of the most widely used training systems in cosmetology and beauty schools across the United States. The program is designed to prepare students for state licensing exams and careers in the beauty and wellness industry through a combination of theory, practical skills, and professional development training.
Milady’s curriculum covers multiple areas of beauty education, including cosmetology, barbering, esthetics, nail technology, massage therapy, and instructor training. The flagship program, Milady Standard Cosmetology, includes instruction in haircutting, hairstyling, hair coloring, chemical texture services, skincare, facials, makeup, manicuring, pedicuring, sanitation, infection control, anatomy, and salon business management.
Milady Standard Nail Technology
The Milady Nails book, officially titled Milady Standard Nail Technology, is a comprehensive educational resource used in nail technology programs and beauty schools. The book is designed to prepare students for state board licensing exams while building the technical, scientific, and professional skills needed for a successful career in the nail industry.
The curriculum covers foundational topics such as infection control, anatomy, nail structure and growth, nail disorders, chemistry, electricity, and salon safety. It also provides detailed instruction in manicure and pedicure techniques, electric filing, nail tips and wraps, acrylic enhancements, UV and LED gels, and creative nail art applications. Step-by-step procedural photography and visual demonstrations help students understand both theory and hands-on techniques.
In addition to technical training, the book emphasizes professional development through lessons on communication, client consultation, career planning, salon business operations, and workplace professionalism. The program combines practical instruction with real-world industry preparation, making it one of the most widely recognized educational resources in nail technology education.
Chapter Icons
Creating iconography for each chapter helps reinforce the content by building visual recognition and improving retention. To support the project timeline and budget, I created illustrations for each icon.
Photoshoot
I coordinated several photoshoots for the Milady Nails book to support a range of visual content needs, including step-by-step procedural imagery, chapter-specific visuals, and model photography for section openers and cover design.
